10 Day Green Smoothie Cleanse

Green smoothie cleanses have become very popular recently.  And justifiably so.  So many individuals, including myself, have experienced life changing results with green smoothie cleanses.  Weight loss seems to be the most popular result, but there are many other benefits to a green smoothie cleanse.

Why do a 10 day green smoothie cleanse
Cleansing and detoxing with a 10-day green smoothie cleanse will rid your body of the excess toxins that cause the problems such as weight gain, decreased energy, poor sleep, poor digestion, bloating, cravings, and mental fog.  We all strive for better quality of life, and that should be as simple as possible. You can’t get much simpler than a meal with a ton of nutrients, that’s easy to make, leaves you full and satisfied, and tastes great. That’s what the 10-day green smoothie cleanse is all about.  While weight loss is the most common reason for starting a cleanse, just as important is the multitude of other transformations you’ll experience – more energy, clearer and brighter skin, more organized and focused thoughts, reduced cravings, better sleep, and less bloating.

Who should do a 10 day green smoothie cleanse
The green smoothie cleanse is appropriate for just about everyone. If you have a lot of weight to lose, only a few pounds, or just want to cleanse the toxins from your body, the green smoothie cleanse is perfect for you. So many people have found this program to be very simple and maintainable. Results prove the average weight loss for women during the 10 days is about 8 pounds; men lose an average of 12 pounds. So let’s get started!

Prepare yourself and keep it simple

1) Use only the ingredients listed in each recipe. The wrong combination of foods can slow digestion and cause bloating and stomach discomfort.

2) Prepare the ingredients for your smoothie the night before. Measure all of the ingredients and place them in a gallon bag to store in the refrigerator. The next morning, dump the entire contents of the bag into your blender, add the water, blend, and divide the final mix into three drinking containers. Drink your first smoothie before leaving your house and take the remaining with you.

3) Drink up to 48 ounces of green smoothies each day – breakfast, lunch and dinner. Each recipe makes three smoothies, with each smoothie being 12-16 ounces.

4) Don’t starve yourself! Always have something to snack on with you. You can snack on berries, melon, apples, celery, tomato, cucumbers and other crunchy veggies. You can also snack on raw or unsalted nuts or seeds, but those must be limited to a handful per day.  You should be consuming either a snack or a smoothie every 3-4 hours to avoid feeling hungry.

5) Eat a salad mid-day. The salad should only contain fresh vegetables – spinach, spring mix, tomatoes, cucumber, avocado, celery, cilantro and peppers. Stick to vinegar-based dressings.

6) Drink plenty of water – around 80 ounces – each day. You can also drink detox tea throughout the day to help curb any hunger and decrease cravings.

7) Expect detox symptoms – headaches, cravings, fatigue. These are very common, but will go away after a few days. Hang in there!

8) Take a grocery list to the store and shop for only five days at a time. Buy as much organic as possible. Use only fresh spinach and as much frozen fruit as you can for the smoothies.

9) Do NOT consume meat, sugar, milk, cheese, beer, liquor, coffee, sodas/diet sodas, fried and processed foods, and refined carbs like bread, pasta and donuts.

10) Use the buddy system. Find a friend to do the smoothie cleanse with you. This will help keep you on track, keep you accountable, and things are always more fun in pairs!

Congratulations! You’ve completed your 10-day green smoothie cleanse! By now, you should be feeling and looking great, have lost several pounds, and are ready to continue your healthy lifestyle.

After this cleanse you shouldn’t go right back to eating whole foods all day. If you do, you can potentially undo all of the work you just did! What’s so incredible about green smoothies is that with some added plant-based protein, the smoothies can be consumed daily for long periods of time. So to continue your new lifestyle, use the recipes above, but cut the fruit amounts in half and add 1-2 scoops of plant-based protein powder to your smoothie. This will now make two smoothies for you to drink each day. In addition to the two smoothies each day, you will also eat a high-protein meal with veggies once a day. Your high-protein meal can be at breakfast, lunch or dinner. Continue with this plan for optimal results, and repeat the cleanse days about every three months. This is a lifestyle. Not a diet.

Not every body is alike. Learn to love your body and not compare it to others. Maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle will get you to your goals before you know it!

Stay healthy and fit!
