19 Effective Home Remedies for Mastitis

Breastfeeding is amongst the first initial physical contacts that a mother experiences with her newborn and also the best feeling for a woman in her whole life. 1. Nursing

2. Massage

To do away with clogged ducts and engorgement, you are required to keep a few leaves of fresh cabbage in the refrigerator and put it on the infected parts of breasts. 6. Apple Cider Vinegar for Mastitis
Apple cider vinegar is another effective natural remedy for mastitis. The presence of acetic acid in ACV makes it an active antimicrobial agent.

Thus, it decreases inflammation and combats against infection. Also, it is a great energy booster. You can prepare a solution of ACV with 1 part of it and 2 parts of warm water. Make a fine paste using calendula flowers and comfrey leaves in equal amounts. Warm this paste and apply it over the inflamed portion. Let it be there for 15 to 20 minutes and then remove it using lukewarm water. Repeat the same procedure for 3 or 4 times a day.


Also, you can opt for a calendula ointment and apply it to the infected breasts 2 or 3 times every day.

Note:

1) Don’t skip washing your breasts with lukewarm water before breastfeeding.

2) Avoid oral consumption of this herb during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

15. Echinacea
Echinacea is well known immune system enhancer. With this, it also bolsters the body to fight against different kinds of infections. Hence, used as an herbal remedy to treat mastitis. You can use the extract of its root and apply it to the infected portion daily 4 or 5 times. Don’t forget to wipe it off before breastfeeding.

Alternatively, you can use this effective herb by adding its 4 or 5 drops to a glass of water. Have this mixture for 3 or 4 times every day for utmost a week.

16. Aloe Vera

17. Lavender Oil
Essential oil of lavender has been used for years as a home remedy to soothe pain, minor burns, and aches. You can manage the breast pain and swelling that result due to mastitis by rubbing it or massaging it on the inflamed breasts.

Alternatively, you can use lavender tea bags. Put them in hot water for 10 to 15 minutes. Soak a clean cloth in the solution and apply on the infected area.

18. Oregano Oil

19. Tea Tree Oil
